Hope
Farm
With an initial US$10,000 donation in December 2003
from Jayesh Tailor, Zambia Hope purchased a farm near
Lusaka that is used to raise food for AIDS orphans and
to teach agriculture to students at the three schools
we support (Mutakwa, Barlaston Park and Hope). After
a successful first harvest, Jay donated another US$10,000.
Other supporters from Britain introduced by Jay donated
an additional US$15,000, which went to drilling a well
and construction of a chicken run with a capacity of
10,000 chickens a month. The farm has grown from 10
acres to 120 acres, and is successful.
Pig Farm, Dairy Farm and Sausage
Factory
As part of our efforts to provide nutritional food to
the 2,500 AIDS orphans through the Misisi compound,
we are building a 10-sow piggery. We also plan to purchase
five cows to provide milk to the orphans.
A sausage factory will be a source of food, as well
as income to support the education of the orphans. We
plan for our farm to both feed the children and finance
their education.
